Peer Educators
Does it seem like everyone out there is having sex? In fact, studies show that most (53.3%) teens age 15-19 have not had sex! There are so many reasons to choose abstinence, and Free to Be is passionate about sharing that message with teens.
Teen Panel Presentations
The most unique component of the Free to Be program is the teen panel presentation provided by Free to Be’s exceptional team of Peer Educators. The Peer Educators present their message in more than 100 classrooms in Northern California each year.

Peer Educators
During Teen Panels, Peer Educators share with other teens their personal reasons for remaining abstinent until marriage. They talk about:
- The freedoms they’ve gained through that decision
- Their goals for the future
- Their personal experiences in relationships
- How they “walk the talk”
Why become a PE?
Peer Educators are trained and mentored by the Free to Be staff. They support each other in their decision and become part of the Free to Be team. In addition to speaking in classroom presentations, PE’s participate in monthly workshops and social events. Recent activities have included:
- “Got Knowledge?” workshop
- Movie night
- Cooking lesson
- Beach trip
- High ropes challenge course
- Ice skating
