A New Generation of Leaders

Each academic year, Free to Be nominates a few exceptional Peer Educators to serve on the Youth Advisory Board (YAB).

These teens meet regularly to:

  • Plan upcoming events
  • Advise the staff about today’s popular culture
  • Assist with PE recruitment
  • Provide supportive relationships for newer PEs

AnalisaJeff
Jeff is still in his first year with Free to Be but is excited to be in YAB. He loves music and hanging out with friends. Although he's still in his first year he is excited about the message Free to Be shares and is ready to help out in any way that he can. Jeff believes in building healthy relationships and focusing on his goals for the future.

Tommy is a first year YAB member and is very excited about helping out Free to Be share with people the option of waiting. Tommy has many people who have been positive influences in his life and he hopes that he too can be a positive influence for others, especially young men, who think choosing abstinence is too tough to do.

KelseyLisa

A noted poet and accomplished student; Lisa has a passion for abstinence by dispelling the media’s myths, as a role model and abstinent teen. She is in her second year at Free to Be and with YAB. This year she is more excited than ever to share with her peers that waiting is ok and it takes a lot of pressure off of you.

Lizzy has experienced a lot of things in her life and wants to share with her peers that you don’t have to let negatives that happen to you define you. She is in her second year with YAB and Free to Be, and is very excited to use her past experience to help further Free to Be's message of healthy choices and waiting.

LaurenVanessa

Vanessa is a passionate person with big dreams for her future. Waiting to have sex until marriage is one thing she can do to help achieve those dreams. She is in her second year with Free to Be and her first year as a member of YAB. She has many ideas that will help Free to Be’s goal to reach students and share the option of waiting.
